The 1947 Maple leaf coins were minted in 1948 because the 1948 Dies were delayed account India attaining Independence and the wording on the obverse of the coins needed to be changed
CANADIAN PENNIES ARE NO LONGER MINTED AFTER THE 2012 YEAR
Two major factors over the years have dramatically decreased the 'outstanding number' of coins for any one year and denomination from the original published mintage figures
Apparently YES as of April 2012 the Canadian penny will no longer be minted and all pure copper coins in circulation will be melted down
