The Silver issues ran from 1928 - 1942, with some extremely rare 1943 silver issues that were minted from left over silver flans after minting of silver coinage ceased ALL the early Irish Coinage was minted in low numbers Unlike most countries, Irish coinage was minted only as needed rather than every year The metals the coins were minted in also changed, as did the size and design on the smallest denominations Thought the half penny was kept briefly, like the penny and newly introduced two pence, the design of the coins had a complete change of design o their reverse
