These coins are known as "provincial" coins because they were minted by one of the Roman Emperors within one of the Roman Provinces generally using Greek nomenclature
There were a huge number of these coins minted mostly in the second and third centuries
This coin was minted in the ancient city of Deultum in the Roman province of Thrace in what is today the city of Derkon in western Turkey
Coins were minted here from 97 A.D through 249 A.D. Though once surrounded by strong walls, all that remains today are parts of its ramparts
