Platinum or Platinum Alloy scrap bar - 2.6 grams
The bar is approximately 37 mm
long (slightly longer if flattened), 12 mm
, and 0.5 mm
The rod is not stamped but I suspected from its weight and finish that it might be platinum or a platinum alloy
The bar weighs 2.623 grams
Suspending the bar in distilled water yielded a weight of 0.136 grams for the displaced water, indicating a specific gravity for the bar of 19.29
I weighed the platinum bar on a DigiWeigh DW-BX, 600 gram scale which the manufacturer represents to be accurate within 1/10 of a gram
For example, my scale may show a weight of 3.0 grams for a given sample
