The coin weighs 16.82 grams with a diameter of 29 mm and was struck at the Amphipolis mint ca. 288/7-282/1 BC The obverse depicts the diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great right wearing horn of Ammon The reverse depicts Athena seated left, holding Nike in extended right hand and resting forearm on shield, transverse spear beyond, monogram above knees This gorgeous example is struck in high relief with an obverse portrait that looks almost like a piece of ancient Greek sculpture
