The obverse has a right-facing bust of the emperor and the legend is DN IVLIANVUS NOB C (roughly translated, "Our Lord, Julian, Noble Caesar")
It has a FEL TEMP REPARATIO ("Happy days are here again!") reverse depicting a Roman soldier spearing a fallen barbarian horseman
