On the obverse is a shield with "Good for One Cent," and "Tradesmens Currency" above and below
The obverse has an eagle with "United States" above and "Copper" below
Slightly off-center strike on both sides - a little more off-center on reverse
Civil War tokens are fascinating bits of history that were privately minted approximately 150 years ago to make up for a severe shortage of government-issued coinage during the war
